The Nuts & Bolts of Digital Photography Saturday May 16th, 2009 1-4:30pm
Description: This course is designed for the beginning digital photographer who would like to learn how to take control of the camera. Modern digital cameras offer the opportunity to learn through the immediate evaluation of images. In this course, participants will learn how to evaluate the exposure of images through the reading of a histogram and how to use the exposure compensation function of the camera to improve the quality of the image captured. Time will also be spent learning some guidelines for composition. There will be opportunities during class to step outside and practice using the camera. Printed handouts will be available to participants. Please bring your camera.
Level: Beginner or Intermediate refresher Cost: $40 per person advance payment, $45 at the door
Instructor: Mary Lou Frost has enjoyed photography as a hobby for 26 years and has begun recently delving into underwater photography. During the past 10 years she has turned her attention almost fully to digital photography. In 2009, she received the Kodak Award for Photographic Excellence from the Niagara Frontier Regional Camera Clubs. In addition to becoming an instructor in photography for Elderhostel in Utah and Colorado administered by Colorado State University, Frost is currently president of the Science Museum Camera Club, where she has made numerous presentations on the techniques of digital photography.
