Ask Ray Bradbury a Question! Buffalo Film Festival to host Bradbury appearance in October 2009.

Buffalo, NY; Los Angeles, CA Ray Bradbury, world-reknowned author, will answer three questions posed by three lucky people from Western New York. In connection with a special screening to be held as part of Buffalo Film Festival 2009, Mr. Bradbury, who turns 89 years old in August, will make an appearance via remote-hookup from Los Angeles, California. Bradbury is the author of 11 novels, including the classics Fahrenheit 451 and The Martian Chronicles; nearly 40 short story collections, including The Illustrated Man and The October Country; 20 plays; poetry collections; movies; comic books; and literally hundreds of short stories. Ray Harryhausen, the greatest living stop-motion animator, is a childhood friend.

Questions can be submitted via e-mail ( BuffaloFilmFestival@gmail.com) or US Post ( Buffalo Film Festival, Bradbury Contest, POB 503-RB, Buffalo, NY 14223-0503). Entries must be postmarked (or e-mail marked) no later than midnight, Wednesday, June 24, 2009.

"We want Western New Yorkers to have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interract with one of the greatest writers of our century," said Edward Summer, President of the Buffalo International Film Festival, "so we're holding a little contest to select the best three questions to ask. It will be a hard choice, but there will be limited time at the event."

The questions will be reviewed for imagination, insight, relevance to Western New York History. Only three questions can be selected, and the decision of the judges will be final.

The Buffalo Film Festival is committed to the community of Western New York and bringing them extraordinary, international opportunites for both entertainment and enlightment.

RULES

The e-mail or letter should include ALL of the following information. If any information is missing, the entry will immediately be disqualified.

1) The question should be clear and simple and no more than three sentences long. Long, rambling statements will not be considered.
2) Entries should, ideally, be typed, but clear, legible handwriting will be accepted. If we can't read it, however, it will not be considered.

Occupation

No personal information will be shared with anyone else or made public (except your name and occupation if you are a winner.) The information is requested only so that we can be in touch with you.

4) e-mails should have the following exact information in the SUBJECT LINE. If it is missing, the entry will NOT be considered.

No physical prize is offered. Winners will have their question asked to Mr. Bradbury who will, at his discretion and time permitting, answer it for the audience at the event. By entering, you consent to the use of your name, occupation, birth year, and (if requested and you supply it) your photograph at the event and for promotional purposes. All questions become the property of Buffalo International Film Festival, Inc. No physical letters can be returned, so do not include anything that you don't retain a copy of. BIFF is not responsible for entries lost in the mail or in the e-mail transmission process.

The answering of these or any questions is totally at the discretion of Mr. Bradbury. BIFF reserves the right to withdraw this offer for any reason whatsoever.
